The Support Group Revolution [Societal Movement]

For Everyone, For Every Endeavor, There Is A Support Group

Society makes Support Groups as common a phenomenon as pubs, or hockey games.

The Support Group Phenomenon

The Support Group becomes a tool, as common as a hammer.
The Support Group is a place where you are given permission to talk openly about what's really going on with you.
You know that the people in the Support Group won't push you away for being "too real"; they are there for the same reasons you are, to open up and feel supported.

World Of Warcraft Support Group

I think many WoW players would benefit greatly from having other people who understand them to talk to,
to explain why they feel compelled to spend so many hours of their life in escape to a world of adventure.

...it's just nice to be around people who want to open up and know where you're coming from.

Joy Exercise - An Alternative Approach To Exercise

Disney's Tarzan

How was Tarzan fit in Disney's movie?
He spent his days tree-surfing and swinging from vines.
The sheer joy of exploring his environment to his curiosity's desire.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man stays fit by spending his nights swinging from skyscrapers, running across rooftops, scaling walls.
He loves doing it.
He loves the sensation of interacting with his environment on this powerful level.

Hercules

I read one story where Hercules was described as a child delighting in just the sensation of running across the verdant hills, swimming in the bright rivers, scaling mountains in his path.
He became fit by the sheer joy of exploring his environment with total freedom.
His joy carried him through his exercise.

Not Competitive Sports, Not About Outperformance

There is no competition here.
This is not about beating the other team.
This is about participating in the sheer joy of existence, the sheer joy of a powerful body and exploring its abilities.

The Gym

The Gym feels like maintenance,
like a responsibility,
like an obligation,
like giving your car an oil change,
or vacumning your carpets.
There is no joy in it,
it's something you have to do to stay looking acceptable and not inspire disgust in others.
There is no joy in it.
No joy at all...
It is a factory,
and you treat yourself like a product,
just another number on the conveyor belt...
sick...

Joy Exercise

When exercise is a pleasure, not a burden, a person becomes fit with great rapidity, and, most importantly, it enhances a person's life, rather than deplete it.
