New Work Relationship Concept : The Fair Exchange

1. An employee works hard and the fair exchange is being taught everything they want to learn.

3. ...sadly many employers at this point will indicate that this will result in employees not being able to do their original duties well. To these employers of limited vision I say that : a) You need to believe in your people more. b) Employees who want to learn have a good attitude, which extends to performing their original duties well. A desire to learn is a guarantee of a person who wants to do well, and this naturally includes ALL their duties.
4. Eventually the employee will have learned all they can out of the job and be ready to move on. If the employee is quick, this might mean a very short amount of time. The employer might be concerned they invested time and gotten very little productivity. This is easily addressed.
5. The Employee's Honor : Employers who believe in their employees and teach them everything they want, as fast as they want it, gain their employee's respect and honor. The employee makes a commitment then to stay with their Employer, performing all their duties, until the Employer finds someone to take over their duties. Further, the employee pays it forward and personally helps to train their replacement with the same attention and faith they were trained in.

Dueling is an essential part of The Learning.

Players of similar levels are given level-appropriate puzzles and try to complete them in a specific amount of time.

The Duels : Spirit Guide Points

One of the most unique features of The Learning is gaining Spirit Guide Points (which can be, of course, cashed in for new gear).

Players who win duels can become Spirit Guides for the losers (losers willing of course).

The puzzles of the duel are repeated, but, the loser completes them alone, with a twist. The other player provides structured assistance :

• The other player is connected to the loser with a special kind of word burst chat. Short bursts of advice can be given, but not full explanations (to keep things still challenging).
• The other player can complete small bits of the puzzle for the other player (e.g. In a Word Challenge, the Spirit Guide can fill in a letter of the word in specific time increments) helping to guide the loser to the answer.
  

The Spirit Guide is awarded points calculated as a percentage of how much they improved the loser's score.

Premise

• Lance (short for Lancelot) is a drifter. He is a nice guy, with noble ideas and a good heart, but he just can't seem to get his act together. He's also kind of clumsy...
• The world of Treaty is multifaceted. Different layers of awareness and intelligence. Some layers comprised of more evolved human beings, some with less. Lance is part of our layer (less evolved human beings). Human beings in the higher layers have been called "Gods" in the past. They sometimes "meddle" in the lower layers...but that's a story unto itself.
• One day Lance encounters Cassandra, a girl in distress. He helps her. She grants him a unique power.
• Lance finds himself given the gift / curse of Ultimate Treaty : effectively, he cannot be treated badly. Cannot. Period. This power is the source of great action, comedy, and tragedy.
  
• Lance is always getting himself into trouble because he insists on being treated well, even though by society's standards he's just a drifter-nobody.
  
• In the 1st episode, he offends a powerful group of Gangsters because he refuses to pay them protection money for his friend's store. So, the action begins. The Gangsters try to make an example of him to the neighborhood, but they cannot touch him. He has Infinite Dodge / Infinite Anticipation. They cannot punch, tackle, grab, stab, trap, run over, or even shoot him, no matter how hard they try, no matter how many of them there are. The action is fast, intense...but funny.
  
• Lance is a nice guy. Non-violent. He just believes in being treated with respect. He clumsily dodges and avoids everything the Gangsters throw at him, completely shocked at the new power himself. It's like he's invincible, although his body moves itself out of the way of harm, he is not an impenetrable colossus. [I'm a big fan of Spider-Man's amazing dodging abilities.]
  
• Eventually, the Gangster's have to give up, and Lance insists on lecturing them on their miscreant ways. The Gangsters have no choice but to treat him with respect, what else can they do? The Gangsters agree to leave Lance's friend alone.
• Lance secures a victory!...but it has a price.
• Lance cannot "fight" anyone. It's part of his nature, and his power.
• Lance can only be treated with respect, but the people around him can still be walked over, and he can't stop bullies from doing so physically. Only with his words...and whatever else he can think of.
• Lance is a nice guy, with a good heart, and an incredible power. He will continue to be himself, and use his power to have treaties with people that are respectful. Further, he can't help but want to use his power to help other people. He can't save them directly...but maybe there are ways he can intercede on their behalf...
• All the while, the other layers of human awareness are watching. What do other human beings think of a super human with a good heart trying to help people around him to evolve? the plot thickens...

Extremely simple concept.

Concept

Breaking the infrared light activates the corresponding command in the game.

A framework is built which can house the infrared lights in different positions.

Example : The Roundhouse Kick

The framework is built to the equivalent of the height of a human head and the infrared light is attached to the corresponding height.

The framework would probably be best built out of durable plastic, to be flexible, inexpensive, and easy to assemble and disassemble.

The player simply executes roundhouse kicks at the height of the sensor to break the light-beam and this activates the corresponding movement in the game.

This basic example can be adopted for a wide range of physical activities.

The Game's "Modular Cage" Design

Every game would come with a detailed instructional video on how to set up the break-light framework for the particular game.

For example, fighting games would have the player set up the framework into a cage which positioned the infrared lights at positions for kicks, punches, blocks, and dodges.

Accuracy

Infrared light technology is well-used.

The Garage Door sensor operates on the principle of an infrared light.

Infrared lights are quick and responsive.

Modularity and Cost

Players can expand on their modularity as their budget allows.

To begin, they can purchase 1 or 2 lights, and just enough framework to create a simple stand design for the lights to simulate a simple boxing speed bag workout.

As the player's budget allows, they can construct more and more complex gaming modular cages to do a wider range of activities.

Hypothesis

• Mechanically speaking, the human body's most natural form of movement is running. Human beings are most perfectly designed for the form of locomotion of running.
• During childhood, children are told not to run on a regular basis.
• "Don't run in the street." "Don't run inside the shopping mall." "Don't run inside the house." "Don't run in the classroom." "Don't run when invited to a friend's house." "Don't run, Don't run, Don't run."
• It can be said that when human beings are doing well in life they are "running". If somebody is "crawling" through life, it can be inferred they are doing poorly. The admonition to not run regularly used throughout a person's life, permanently cripples people from succeeding.

• How strong is the correlation between not being permitted to run, and overall human happiness and well being?

It's Good To Have A "Variety Of Experiences" To Draw Upon

Everyone knows this.
It's common knowledge.
Parents admonish their children with this little nugget of advice; they will tell their children,
"Try something new."
"Expand your horizons."
"Get out there and give it a shot."

Unfortunately, the vast majority of parents and people in general, give this advice casually, without actual impetus or urgency.

While the truth is, life will easily pass a person by (as is my sorry life story), the result being that without sufficient input of energy, a person will find themselves stuck in a rut, without the means to get out.

A Large "Skill Set"

I do not know this very well from personal experience, but I think that it is a very rewarding event, when you are able to help someone in need because of the large variety of skills you have to draw upon.

Again, this is common knowledge.

Of course it is "nice" and "useful" to have a large array of skills available to use.
It makes a person "well rounded" and "more marketable" and "a better hire".

This utilitarian view of seeking though, defeats the motivation to actually do it.

Life Is Short : Find Teachers Who Actually Love To Teach

Think about it this way, the majority of people do their jobs because they have to.
They have to pay their bills.
If they're lucky, maybe they like some parts of their job.
Naturally, these poor people are not going to be very good teachers.

As opposed to the current manifestation of democracy which is prevalent,
where the majority of people feel :

1. Electing government officials is sufficient participation in the governing process, after which further participation is a bonus. After all, elected officials' "job" is to govern the society, they should be able to do so on their own.
2. The wealthy and those in power are untouchable. Everyday people cannot do anything to affect much change in their society. Normal people are subject to the whims of the wealthy and there is little that can be done about it.
   
3. Societal problems are too massive and overwhelming to contemplate without succumbing to insanity. Best to just take it one day at a time and live day by day. Thinking too much about things outside of one's control makes life intolerable.

I deride Multinational Corporations a great deal.
I apologize for being derisive.
I just find it ridiculous that human beings waste their potential trying to vampirically suck the energy from their fellow human beings, the very human beings on whom mutual survival, and speaking truly, happiness depends.
Short sighted and Immature thinking.
Multinationals are run by small groups of profit driven individuals who display a real sense of disconnect from the rest of humanity.
Like the wealthy have always displayed in human history.
I'd recommend to them, that if they choose to help people tap their potential, they will be surprised at how much "the masses" are really capable of.

Story Idea

The protagonist is a teenager of modern times where coming of age means being able to drive, drink, and go to bars.

Naturally none of this gives the protagonist any real sense of self.

The protagonist's disdain for their life comes to a head and they embark on their own coming of age quest.

Some of them go on their own Coming of Age journeys and some do not.

Homecomings and Reunions

The film's most poignant moments are when the characters meet each other in several year intervals.

The characters who have had Coming of Age experiences have grown in accordance with the intensity of their experiences.

The differences are highlighted in the characters

• Poise : the way they carry themselves, so different from when they were younger
• Perceptiveness : the depth of their understanding, their maturity, their scope
• Talents : skills and abilities they have picked up on their journey

The Mentor : The Catalyst

The movie wants to teach its audience.

It`s often not easy to push oneself into the frightening world of the unknown.

Perhaps some of the characters can have Mentor figures.
Mentors who point out to them that their current path takes them down towards a life of mediocrity and meaninglessness.
Mentors who show the protagonists possibilities for growth and wonder they hadn`t before considered.

Perhaps some of the protagonists become Mentors in their turn.

Nobody Gets Left Behind

It would be good for this to be a Humanist movie and not one falling on the old stereotype of the "winners" and the "losers".

Some of the protagonists have their Coming of Age earlier than others, but, eventually, all the characters have experiences of some sort which make them grow into the mature, self-actualized form of themselves.

The Cementing Knowledge Technique

This is a very simple, age-old, technique for securing knowledge that humanity has always used, but never made part of mainstream societal behavior.

1. Teacher Asking Class Questions : The teacher teaches their class the knowledge which they possess, and then asks questions of their class to see if the information has been retained.
2. Memorizing the Koran : I believe that it was a practice among some Muslims for them to memorize the Koran, and this was achieved by having passages read and then repeated, over and over. I think it was almost a rite of passage for youth, when they could finally recite the entire Koran from memory.
3. The Sword of Truth : The hero (forgot name) memorizes the key spell book in the novel, explaining that his father had painstakingly gone over the book together for nights on end, reading, reciting, correcting, over and over, until the hero had the book completely memorized.
   
4. "What Do You Do Before You Cross The Street?" : a Mother or Father will ask their child who responds properly, "Look both ways for cars." The child remembers because the knowledge was posed in the form of a question with the expectation that the child would answer correctly. The child senses the importance of the question and thus actually "focuses" on it. Naturally in our dull and directionless approach to education the majority of children "tune out" because they sense correctly that the material being taught has no genuine weight of importance.

3. Repeat the knowledge if it was not retained.

Keys To The Technique

1. Weight : The person asking the questions needs to give the impression that there is weight behind the questions, that they have purpose and value, otherwise the knowledge will be forgotten. Why? hmm... learning has a foul taste to it in our society, because it is imposed on us throughout our lives as something of an obligation and not a joy. Remove the pressure to succeed phenomenon, remove the foulness attached to the learning experience. Teach learning as an ability which enhances the joy of being alive, instead of it being a burden, and learning will become more popular than television.
